Dinner idea: The absolute BEST Beef Roast

This has been a favorite meal of mine since I was a child, so much so that I would ask my mom to make this for my birthday dinner! It’s super easy, only 3 ingredients and packed full of flavor.

You know those meals that are just absolute perfection? The ones you love to make for special occasions, having your in-laws over for dinner or even just a good Sunday dinner?

Yep, this is one of those meals.

The best part is, it’s only 3 ingredients and you basically just dump and go.

Also, it makes some darn good gravy making it so that mashed potatoes pair nicely with this meal. Although, I do also love it with some cheesy potatoes.

Ingredients

  • Beef Chuck Roast
  • Dry onion soup mix
  • Cream of mushroom

How to make the BEST roast.

  1. Brown all sides of the roast in butter on the stove top.
  2. Place browned roast in slow cooker.
  3. Sprinkle dry onion soup mix on top.
  4. Dump in cream of mushroom.
  5. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours. The longer it cooks the more tender it will get.

Notes:

This recipe makes it’s own awesome gravy so pairing it with mashed potatoes works great. I also spoon gravy on top of the roast on my plate to eat it. So yummy!

You can eat this roast as is or on sandwiches.

I like to serve this with a green salad, rolls, mashed potatoes or even cheesy potatoes.

If you like to make more of a complete meal, you can add cut up carrots and cut up potatoes to the crock pot as well.

Thanks for being here, in this space with me. I wish I had learned how to cook when I was younger, but I didn’t. So this is my way to have things accessible for my kids, whenever they are ready to learn.

Ingredients

  • Beef Chuck Roast
  • 1 pkt Dry onion soup
  • 1 can Cream of mushroom

Instructions

  • Brown all sides of roast in butter on the stove top.
  • Place browned roast in slow cooker.
  • Sprinkle dry onion soup mix on top.
  • Dump in cream of mushroom.
  • Cook on low for 6-8 hours, or on high for 3-4 hours. The longer it cooks, the more tender it will be.
  • This will make its own gravy which is perfect to pair it with mashed potatoes.
  • Serve with your choice of sides and salads. You can also use for sandwiches.

Notes

  • You can add in carrots and cut up potatoes if you’d like.
  • This makes an amazing gravy once the roast is removed. No need to add anything to it, just mix it well. If you’d like it thicker, just sprinkle in a little flour until it’s the consistency you’d like.
  • You can choose to not brown the roast and it will still be delicious. :)
