Easy dinner idea: Tortellini casserole

This dinner is easy, cheesy and SO delicious! It’s a favorite with ALL of my kids, from the adults to my toddlers. It’s sure to be a hit with your own family.

Easy Dinner Idea

Sometimes having an easy dinner idea makes my life so much easier! This dinner has it all! It’s easy, not too many ingredients, the ingredients are easy to have on hand and really it can be made by anyone old enough to be in the kitchen.

There are only 5 ingredients in this meal! You can serve it with a side of your favorite vegetables, a green salad and some type of bread. I don’t always have rolls in my home, so I do what my parents always did. I bring out the bread and butter and we have a slice of bread with butter on top to dip in the sauce.

Ingredients needed:

  • Ground beef
  • Tortellini pasta
  • Cream cheese
  • Pasta sauce
  • Cheese

That’s it! It’s so easy and it’s a nice little twist on a typical spaghetti dish.

How to make Tortellini Casserole

  1. Brown your ground beef in
  2. Cook tortellini according to package. I usually cook it al dente. Drain.
  3. Once ground beef is browned and fat is removed, add in cream cheese in the pan. Dump in the pasta sauce. Keep heat on low and stir until cream cheese is completely mixed in and no clumps remain.
  4. Add in cooked, drained pasta into the pan with ground beef. Mix to combine.
  5. Put everything in a 9X13 pan.
  6. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top to your hearts content.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit until cheese is melted.

Notes

  • I’ve used frozen tortellini, which is a 19 oz bag. And then I’ve also used dry tortellini which was a 12 oz bag. They both worked and I didn’t change the recipe for either one. Obviously, one was saucier than the other, but both were good and worked well.
  • With the cheese, I like to do half mozzarella and half parmesan. Feel free to use whatever cheese your family likes.

Thanks!

Thanks for being here, in this space with me. It brings me so much joy providing for my family (even though I hate cooking) and to be able to help others do the same for their own family just fills me with joy.
