Homemade Brownie Mix

Easy homemade brownie mix to keep in your pantry ready for whenever you have that chocolate craving. No more store bought mix full of ingredients you don’t need. And, this recipe is delicious!

My family loves brownies! Especially warm brownies topped with ice cream! YUM!

It always takes me a few tries before I find the right recipe for my family and brownies were no exception.

When it came to finding a brownie mix recipe, it was harder than I thought. I figured most brownies would taste relatively the same. Ooey gooey chocolaty goodness. Maybe some of them more cake like but still tastes like yummy chocolate. Right?

Wrong.

MOST of the recipes I tried, all with normal sounding ingredients, tasted like I was eating the chocolate powder. Each of those recipes had a chalky, cocoa taste to them. Not good.

So, I kept looking. And I found a recipe!

It’s good and tastes better than the store-bought mixes by far.

Ingredients:

  • Cocoa powder
  • Flour
  • Sugar
  • Salt
  • Baking powder
  • Glass Jar

This recipe made enough to fit into 2 of my 1/2-gallon ball mason jars. So, a gallon container would work great!

I found the recipe from Andrea over at Savings Lifestyle. Originally, I found the recipe on Pinterest, and I had saved it to one of my boards. Finally, I made it and I’m so glad that I did! My whole family loved it!

To make the mix:

Since this recipe isn’t mine, you can head over to Savings Lifestyle to grab it. I promise you, it is so worth it! It’s one of my favorites! It’s so easy.

Like I said, I store mine in my half gallon mason jars. I’m able to keep one in my pantry and then I vacuum seal the other for later use.

To make brownies:

Now for the good part. Just gather these ingredients and then head over to Savings Lifestyle to grab the whole recipe.

  • The brownie mix you just made
  • Eggs
  • Water
  • Vanilla extract

What I used that is helpful

To store the brownie mix, I keep it in these half gallon mason jars.

Then I used my Food Saver to vacuum seal them to make it shelf stable for years.

Now, brownies are a dessert and I know my family, specifically, my younger kids, will eat them. So, I’ve been known to put some greens powder in them. They can’t taste it and then I know that they are getting some nutrients in which makes me feel a bit better about giving them brownies. You only need a little bit and you can make your own greens! It’s so easy.

I can’t thank you enough for being here, in this space, with me and learning, and growing. It’s exciting!

I’ve got lots of little clips of what I do on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram. Come say hi!
