Homemade Onion Soup Mix

No longer will you need to buy a soup mix full of preservatives and things you can’t pronounce; this is delicious and so easy to make!

Part of the journey I’m on is trying to make more things from scratch. The more I look at ingredients on the food in my pantry, the sicker I get. This is the latest that I’ve made from scratch and I’m never going back to store-bought.

You probably already have most, if not all, of the ingredients for this in your pantry. It’s got basic ingredients in it that even if you don’t have them, they aren’t hard to find.

Onion soup mix ingredients needed.

  • Onion flakes
  • Beef bouillon
  • Onion powder
  • garlic powder
  • Paprika
  • Parsley flakes
  • Black pepper
  • Sea salt
  • Celery salt

Now, stay with me, it takes a bit to make this, but I promise it’s worth it!

HA. Just kidding. Honestly, just dump everything in a bowl, mix and put it in a glass, airtight container and you’re done!

It’s SO easy!

How to use onion soup mix.

This mix is pack full of flavor that it’s a favorite when making dinners. Here are some of my favorite ways to use this:

  • Add to burger patties.
  • Sprinkle on roasted potatoes or other vegetables.
  • Pasta dinners.
  • Spruce up pork chops.
  • Sprinkle on chicken.
  • Flavor some rice.
  • Making dips.
  • Steak rub.
  • Pot roast – my personal favorite!

NOTES:

You can keep the mix as is, or if you’re looking for just flavor and not the chunky onions, blend it up.

3 tbsp of this mix is equal to a packet of store-bought onion soup mix.

To make onion soup, mix 3 tbsp of mix with 4 cups of hot water. Let sit for about 5 minutes, until everything is dissolved and mixed in.

This will last on the shelf for up to a year in an airtight container.

Freezing is another option if you want it to last a bit longer.

Thank you!
